ANUAS would like to make a special announcement about an upcoming event.

The ANU Anime Society has been requested by the ACT Chief Minister’s Department to promote Japanese popular culture at the upcoming Canberra Nara Candle Festival at Canberra Nara Park. The club will showcase manga, anime and Japanese music at this annual festival. Additionally the club will be running manga drawing activities to promote this unique Japanese artform.

This excellent event attracted over 5,000 people last year, including the ACT Government Chief Minister and the Japanese Ambassador. The event this year, scheduled for October 20th will feature six hours (3pm-9pm) of free entertainment, including Japanese Shakuhachi and Taiko performances, Japanese cuisine and an impressive display of over 2,000 floating candles.
